Moving Across Canada

I’ve travelled from the west coast across Canada into Ontario to live for a while.

The drive only had one whiteout style snowstorm, but it was getting dark at the time so had enough excitement to fill the journey’s quota. I loved it.

My lemon tree, grown from a seed and creatively named Lemon, loved the journey too and stepped out of the truck to view the praire’s expansive landscape first hand (so to speak).

Probably the only lemon tree to vacation in Saskatchewan.

Out in the world there’s a rise in each looking after their own. There’s a rise of tension and violence to start 2026. But let’s not be too quick to jump to the reason why. We are in a biological system and all closed systems have cycles. So if a character is needed they show up. If the actor can’t make it their understudy arrives to fill the role.

Lemon knows it can’t live in the prairies outdoors.

It wouldn’t survive.

Unless it’s summer.

That’s a cycle.

Be like Lemon.

Get out of the way when winter’s on its way.

No Time

Be angered at politic
if anger’s your drive
but if that smile were missing
another’d arrive
with the same disposition though different eyes
The gods always serving
their black swans alive

For actor and stage
were both set at start
So enter the named with their mask and their mark
the role ready written
the glory, the blame
feel oh so deeply when your turn’s the same
step into the light to know why you came

For many to love you
so equal must hate
that swinging of chorus you must undertake
to hold still while buffeted
ticking bombs make
So then rush to the rim to bear out the wake
of the stone in the water, the rippling lake
too early or late the life is not saved
not saved
you
too early or late will not save you

It’s the space in between
the medieval knew
that carries that power
of fro and of to

To bloom out that blossom so much was done
the day and night and water and sun

So rest when it’s time
then run when you must
For gold to show stillness
the others must rust

For gold to be still
the others are dust

It’s the space in between that measures the move
silent for a time, then cradle to tomb
is the move of the masses
in era or day
the same you can see
if thinking’s for you
So the future’s the same
as yesterday too

There is no time
This is how

There is no such thing

For gold to show stillness
the others must rust

For gold to be still
the others are dust

A Terrible Breeze    (War and Social Media)

The news comes down
A little bluebird sings
Words of war
Of fire and furious things
Of testing might
‘Til no patience knows
If keeping still
Still keeps you safe at home

It’s a terrible breeze
They speak of today
Of threats that used to live a world away
We all know wind
Can blow both ways
And a terrible breeze can blow it all away

A worldwide net
Sees our village grow
’til we all forget
What each one used to know
How a blind bird’s wings
Can reach the shore
And turn that wheel of peace and war

Village fools sinking down, down, down
Debt and gold wound in numbered shrouds
Deal of a life it’s bread and clowns
Can we afford another go around?
The news comes down.

It’s a terrible breeze. The news comes down.

The Gods of the Copybook Headings

words by Rudyard Kipling and music by Elaine Diane Taylor

from the album Preparing for the Fall.

The copybooks of the early 1900s gave us all the wisdom we need. The sayings that were copied are the truths, the gods of our world. All the empires who followed the gods of the marketplace have fallen, and there’s terror and slaughter when the gods of the copybook headings return. The lyrics are by Rudyard Kipling. One of my gurus.

Another Week on Wall Street

words and music Elaine Diane Taylor

from the album Coins and Crowns.

See the bankers wave the Wall Street wands
See the conjured piles of paper green
Now they’re betting all their tricks go wrong
They’re betting the world as you know it
If they win You lose the whole world as you know it

Ever seen a long con?
Ever seen a tampered wand?
Ever seen the betters sipping tea
Making bets just sipping tea
Well don’t talk back
Your betters, your bankers are having a tee, hee, hee
Heyo heyo, just another week on Wall Street
Heyo heyo just another week on Wall Street

A little grease (Greece) is floating out to sea
Little PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain) are bobbing up and down
So send a storm and then we’ll see
when the tide goes out who’s naked on the beach

Who’s that wizard hiding behind that hedge?
Who’s that wizard hiding behind that hedge (fund)? But I’m just speculating

See the bankers wave the Wall Street wands
See the conjured piles of paper green
Now they’re betting all their tricks go wrong T
hey’re betting the world as you know it
If they win You lose the whole damn world as you know it
